Pure acetic acid can form ice like solid when it is below 16.6 ºC, so it is often called glacial acetic acid.
Acetic acid is an important organic chemical raw material, which is mainly used to prepare vinyl acetate monomer (VAM), acetate fiber, acetic anhydride, terephthalic acid, chloroacetic acid, polyvinyl alcohol, acetate and metal acetate.
